These pictures show deserted railway stations across Sussex as strike action brings trains to a halt.
Today is the third day of strikes this week and the first day where there are no trains running at all.
Some stations are closed as ASLEF, the union representing train drivers, has called a strike.
Rail links to the UK’s two biggest airports have been cut, with Gatwick Express and Heathrow Express shutting down.
Operators which have cancelled all their Thursday services include Southern, Southeastern and Thameslink.
The RMT is staging another 48-hour strike from Friday in its bitter dispute over jobs, pay and conditions.
The union’s general secretary Mick Lynch has warned that industrial action will continue beyond May unless a reasonable offer is made.
This disruption will continue well into the weekend.
On Sunday, January 8, the strike action will be lifted, but trains will start later than normal because of disruption caused by the strikes.
