A man has called for a bus company to accept liability for a crash which damaged several cars.

Will Farmer wants Brighton and Hove Buses to take responsibility for a crash in which cars and vans were damaged.

Mr Farmer, of Carden Hill, says that he will now have to go through his insurer to deal with the crash in which vehicles had their wing mirrors knocked off and headlights smashed.

He said: “At about 9.50pm there was a massive bang. Five parked cars including ours were hit.

“It shunted them up the wall, I caught part of it on my CCTV.

“It’s just a bit ridiculous. Our car is still driveable, but one is completely written off, it’s costing everybody money.”

Mr Farmer said that he had heard the loud bang and believes a number 26 bus was involved in the crash near his home.

He said an “exchange of details and information card” from Brighton and Hove Buses said that “if the collision involving your vehicle was our fault, we would like to arrange for the repair of your vehicle and provide you with a like-for-like replacement vehicle whilst your own vehicle is off the road”.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash can be seen with its wing mirror hanging from the car as well as scratched and dents across the door of the vehicle. Another van which was shunted in the crash suffered damage to its front bumper as well as the bonnet and headlight.

CCTV footage of the crash also shows a number of cars being pushed into each other by the impact of the incident. The camera does not show the bus hitting a row of parked cars.

Nick Hill, commercial director at Brighton and Hove Buses, said: “We are currently investigating the incident that took place on December 28th at 21:56. We are pleased to confirm that nobody was injured, and our claims handlers are currently dealing with any individual claims for any damage."
