As 2022 comes to a close, thousands of revellers will descend on Brighton to ring in the new year.

Pubs, clubs and bars will be packed with numerous events in and around the city.

From cabaret to comedy, The Argus has put together a list of the best events Brighton has to offer this weekend.

Proud Cabaret

Proud Cabaret in St George’s Road, Kemp Town, claims to be hosting Brighton’s “biggest and best New Years' Eve celebration.".

Acrobats, fire breathers and aerialists are set to wow guests while they eat a three-course meal.

Tickets start from £150.

Patterns

Patterns will be hosting a “kaleidoscope” of sounds at the Marine Parade venue, with DJ and producer Midland set to headline the New Year’s Eve event.

The three-hour set, with support from other DJs such as Manami and Kilig, has been described as “the party of the year”.

With the main event held in the basement of the former Art Deco hotel, guests can expect to “lose themselves” in the celebrations.

Brighton i360

Brighton’s landmark seafront attraction is hosting a sold-out event 138 metres above the ground.

Guests can “end the final night of the year on a high” at the i360’s New Year’s Eve party night.

With a glass of Nyetimber on arrival, revellers will be treated to a three-course dinner and live music as 2023 rolls in.

Brighton Dome

Earlier in the afternoon, Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra is hosting an afternoon of “musical fizz and fun”.

Conductor Steven Bell is joined by soprano Ailish Tynan, who recently performed at Carnegie Hall and The Royal Opera House.

Entertainment newspaper The Stage said: "Ailish Tynan is superb: her gossamer gleams, and her velvet is plush."

The Dome described the event as "a perfect opportunity to sip a glass of champagne and welcome in the New Year".

Shooshh

Brighton’s only “VIP Super Club” is hosting a “sophisticated and stylish” masquerade ball.

With tickets starting from £15, guests can expect indoor fireworks, fire shows, and stilt walkers among other festivities.

Komedia

The well-known comedy club in Gardner Street is hosting a New Year’s Eve special event, with the “very best comedians on the circuit”.

Alasdair Beckett-King and Tom Houghton are among those on the line-up, which is followed by a special 70s dance event.

Rockwater

Rockwater is hosting a party at the venue on Western Lawns. Cocktails, DJs and dancing are expected at the “best beachfront party in Brighton and Hove”.

It starts at 8.30pm on New Year’s Eve and tickets are from £50.

Revenge

R-Bar in Marine Parade is hosting a free New Year’s celebration with “incredible drag hosts” and an “eclectic mix of chart bangers and trashy pop".

Revellers can celebrate inside the LGBTQ+ hub free if they enter before 9pm on December 31.   

New Year celebrations are not restricted to these pubs, clubs and bars, as the party atmosphere takes over the city from all angles.

Last year, thousands of fireworks were set off from Brighton beach, including from a special plane.
