Some Sussex residents may be waiting longer than hoped for their Christmas parcels as a delivery firm has warned of delays.

The delivery company Yodel has warned Sussex residents that it may take "a couple of extra days" for customers to receive their parcels.

A number of Sussex postcodes are affected, including Brighton and Hove, Crawley, Eastbourne and Worthing. 

A spokeswoman for Yodel said: "As we head into the busy Christmas period, it may take us a couple of extra days to get your parcels to you in a few areas across the country.

She added: "Our teams are working really hard to deliver all of your parcels to you."
