A funeral and motorbike convoy will take place today to commemorate a teenage girl who died in a motorbike crash last month.

India Buchanan, 17, died in hospital after being involved in a motorbike crash on the A27 in Crockhurt Hill, Salvington on Friday, November 18.

Today, there will be a funeral at St Peter’s Church in Henfield.

A motorcycle convoy, arranged by the biking community which India was part of, will meet at Halfords in Rustington at 9am today to prepare for the day.

They will make their way to India’s home in Rustington, meet the family and then head to the church where the funeral service will take place.

Once the funeral is over, the convoy will make its way to Littlehampton Cemetery.

Writing on Facebook, the convoy organiser Xavi Champion said: “We all lost a beautiful soul recently.

“We will always have a space for India in our community and hearts.”

India’s mum Amanda Buchanan-Hills also started a fundraiser to put towards a bench to commemorate her.

So far, over £1,700 of the £2,000 target has been raised.

The money will be put towards a bench in Woodlands Park.

Writing on the fundraising page, Amanda said: “I took India to Woodlands Park from her baby days onwards.

“It holds so many happy memories for her as a child and us as a family.

“Her Daddy passes away when she was five but she still remembered him swinging her on the swings there.”

A week after India died, her schoolfriends paid tribute to her at Angmering Bowl, a skatepark where India spent time with her friends.

They let off balloons, played music and people on motorbikes roared their engines.

After the event, India’s sister Megan wrote on Facebook: “I hope you can see how truly and completely adored you were, and always will be.

“No one should ever have to say this sort of goodbye to their little sibling and each little step closer to goodbye hurts even more.

“I hope you’re flying as high as you can my beautiful girl, I love you always.”
