A man has been arrested following a collision in which a boy suffered “potentially life-threatening” injuries.

The 33-year-old man, from Eastbourne, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The arrest comes following the crash on the B2095 in Hooe between a car and a flatbed van. The man has been released on unconditional bail while enquiries continue.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash at around 3pm on Thursday, December 15, in which a seriously injured boy was removed from one of the vehicles.

The boy was then airlifted to a hospital in London by the air ambulance who attended the scene.

The road was partially closed for some time during the incident while emergency services attended the scene near The Lamb pub.

A Sussex Police Spokesman said: “Officers are eager for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward and ask that any relevant information or dashcam footage is reported to Sussex Police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk, quoting Operation Seville.”
