Emergency services were called to the scene after a lorry overturned on the A259.

The HGV, understood to have been carrying tarmac, blocked the road in both directions overnight between Seaford and Newhaven, causing travel disruption for evening commuters.

The vehicle’s cargo was strewn across the road in the accident, with fire crews called to the incident.

The road has since been cleared and re-opened earlier this morning. However, severe delays are still reported around the area, with temporary traffic lights in operation.

Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
