Nearly a quarter of a million parking fines were issued in Brighton and Hove in the past year, the council has confirmed.
Brighton and Hove City Council released the statistics confirming that 239,025 fines were issued in from January 2022 to the middle of November.
The statistics, uncovered after a Freedom of Information request by The Argus, also detailed the streets where the most parking fines were issued.
The council said this figure included fines issued by traffic wardens as well as penalties for bus lane enforcement and those caught by CCTV.
According to the data, the top ten streets where parking fines were issued were:
- Boundary Road, 6,226 fines
- Madeira Drive, 2,463 fines
- Regency Square, 2,316 fines
- Old Steine, 2,017 fines
- West Street, 1,836 fines
- Marine Parade, 1,611 fines
- King's Road, 1,080 fines
- John Street, 915 fines
- Church Road, 900 fines
- Church Street, 885 fines.
Figures were also broken down by month. August was the month with the most fines with 26,699 offences.
