Motorists collided with one another along an icy road as drivers faced treacherous conditions across the city.
A car crashed into another vehicle along a road in Patcham after heavy snowfall and ice made roads in the area impassable.
Another car in the area was seen with a broken rear windscreen and damage to its bumper after crashing into a hedge.
It came as bus services to Patcham were suspended due to the wintry conditions, with Brighton and Hove Buses also cancelling a planned visit by the Santa Bus to the neighbourhood.
A spokesman for the bus company said: “Following a thorough route assessment, and due to adverse weather causing very icy pavements, we have had no choice but to cancel tonight’s Santa Bus.”
The company said that anyone who wished to donate to the bus’ fundraising appeal can do so directly through GoFundMe.
A yellow weather warning for ice remains in place for most of Sussex until tomorrow morning, with motorists warned that thawing snow could cause icy stretches to develop on untreated surfaces overnight.
