Incredible pictures show Brighton covered under a blanket of snow this morning.
As wintry conditions continue across Sussex, much of the county woke up to frosty windows, sub-zero temperatures and snow on the ground.
Many made the most of the cold weather, waking up early to visit higher ground near the Racecourse, where the ground has turned completely white with snow.
Council workers were out in full force this morning to clear streets and pavements of ice and snow, as the gritter fleet took to major roads within the city.
Met Office spokesman Grahame Madge said: “The outlook for the UK remains cold at least for the next seven days, with the potential for this to continue even longer.”
Brighton landmarks stood out amid the white landscape, including the Racecourse.
Parts of the UK have been hit by freezing conditions, with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) issuing a level three cold weather alert covering England until Monday.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Travel conditions will remain difficult through Monday due to lying snow which fell during Sunday night.
“After some thawing of lying snow during Monday, icy stretches will develop on untreated surfaces during Monday and overnight.”
National Highways warned drivers not to travel unless absolutely neccessary as travel chaos was predicted. Last night, a crash involving multiple vehicles closed Saddlescombe Road for several hours.
