Money is pretty tight at the moment and restaurants are trying new methods to entice customers to go out for a meal.
Honest Burgers in Duke Street, Brighton, is one of those.
I got the chance to try its “most affordable burger to date” – the Smashed Burger.
The beef burger costs £8.50 including chips and offers decent value for money if you want to treat yourself for a meal out.
While it is good value, I feel anyone struggling for money would still not be able to justify spending that amount.
That aside, the burger was delicious and a fair price. The reason it is called the “smashed” burger is because the beef is chopped rather than minced which “holds in the flavour and keeps the meat coarse and tender”.
Honest says the Smashed Burger cooks in fewer than two minutes and offers a lighter, lower calorie burger which is an ideal lunch option.
It comes with brown butter mustard mayonnaise, American cheese, white onions and pickles, along with Honest Burger’s signature homemade rosemary salted chips.
Staff at the restaurant offered great service and there is a nice atmosphere.
Duke Street is also an ideal location.
Honest Burgers is definitely on my list of places to go for a quick and easy bite to eat.
The other options include chicken, beef, vegan and vegetarian choices.
There is also a healthy selection of sides ranging from wings, onion rings and salad.
The waiter also recommended the bacon gravy which was absolutely delicious. I did treat myself to some wings on the side after a long day at work.
The restaurant offers beers, cocktails, wine and soft drinks so it is perfect if you are after some food and a drink before a night out.
Tom Barton, co-founder of Honest Burgers, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be launching smashed by Honest to our customers.
"We know that lots of people are looking for more affordable options right now, whilst still wanting to eat top quality food.
“This brand-new burger is our best value to date.”
