American fast food chain Popeyes is opening its first restaurant along the south coast later this week.
The restaurant, well known for its fried chicken, will open a new outlet in North Street in Brighton on Saturday, promising to welcome customers with Southern American hospitality.
Mardi Gras-style band The Brass Funkeys will be playing music to welcome the first customers.
The first three visitors to the new restaurant will receive free chicken sandwiches for a whole year, with the first 50 customers also receiving a free chicken sandwich and an official Popeyes T-shirt.
Tom Crowley, CEO of Popeyes UK, said: “We’re delighted to be expanding further south this year, opening in the very heart of Brighton.
“It’s such a friendly, vibrant town and we’re sure residents and visitors will welcome Popeyes with open arms.
“We can’t wait to bring customers a taste of our famous Louisiana chicken to Brighton and beyond very soon.”
Founded in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1972, Popeyes is renowned in the United States for its selection of spicy chicken, chicken tenders and its flagship product, the chicken sandwich.
Since opening its first location in the UK in November 2021, Popeyes now has 15 restaurants, with plans to open 20 new outlets across the country next year.
The new restaurant will open its doors for the first time on December 10 from 11am and will be open every day from 10.30am until 10pm.
The arrival of Popeyes to Brighton is the latest in a number of American fast food chains to open their first restaurants in the city.
In March, burger chain Wendy’s opened its sixth UK restaurant in Western Road, Brighton, offering its signature square burgers and its Frosty dessert.
Two months later, US chicken restaurant Slim Chickens opened its Queens Road restaurant, promising Southern American customer service and hospitality alongside its collection of chicken dishes and dipping sauces.
