Plans have been submitted for a new drive-thru Costa and McDonald’s.
The plans were submitted to Eastbourne Borough Council and show two new drive-thru units at The Crumbles retail park in Eastbourne Sovereign Harbour.
The existing buildings at unit nine would be demolished and a new structure would be built to house a Costa Coffee and a McDonald’s, both with drive-thru facilities.
According to the plans, there would also be landscaping and car parking.
Consultation is now open and the public is being asked for its say.
Residents have already begun submitting feedback.
Nigel Pitt, from Eastbourne, said: “This looks like a very good plan.
“It's about time that area was put to good use. Litter would be my only concern.”
There have also been some objections, citing other McDonald’s and Costa Coffee stores nearby.
Chelsea Dawe, from Eastbourne, said: “There's already three McDonald’s in Eastbourne and a Costa coffee drive-thru five minutes away in Hampden Park.
“The area is already in bad condition with rubbish and cans and beer bottles everywhere this would just add to the problem.
“We already have people screaming past our house at early hours of the morning and this will just provoke more trouble for residents.”
The consultation is open now until December 22, 2022.
