Ice rink opens in Eastbourne over Christmas

The Eastbourne Lightning Fibre ice rink was finished last weekend ahead of its grand opening today.

The ice rink is at the Enterprise Centre in Station Parade, Eastbourne.

Organisers said the rink is significantly bigger than last year's.

Chief executive of Your Eastbourne Business Improvement District, Stephen Holt, said: “Last year many of our sessions sold out, right through to the final day of opening in January, so now is the time to book and ensure you don’t miss out on your festive skate with family or friends. 

“Plus, it’s cheaper to book in advance, and with prices held at 2021 rates and great value family tickets on offer, it’s a winner all round.”

After adding additional space on the ice this year, the rink has also extended the site with a larger viewing area, a new separate skate hire and locker area, more decorations surrounding the glitter ball, and a new winter bar with cosy wood cabins – open to non-skaters too.

There will also be handmade gifts on offer, locally sourced produce, as well as traditional bratwurst, mulled wine and Christmas dinner Yorkshire pudding wraps.

Eastbourne’s Lightning Fibre Ice Rink is opens until 8 January at Eastbourne Enterprise Centre, open from 10am to 8pm (10am to 10pm weekends).

Tickets cost £12 per adult, £8 per child or £30 per family, with skate hire included.

This year sees a series of new sessions at the rink with reduced numbers for serious skaters, while at all other sessions the popular Booksy penguin skate aids will once again be available to hire for children and for those who need a little extra support.
