A 17th century country house has unveiled its “tree-mendous” Christmas decorations.
Bauble adorned trees, piles of Christmas presents and even a reindeer-filled winter wonderland can now be found in Petworth House ready for the festive season.
Highlights include the Marble Hall, transformed into an enchanted winter forest scene with sparkling lights and woodland creatures, wood-carved trees in Petworth’s Grinling Gibbons’ Carved Room, paper flowers adorning the tree in the Little Dining Room and a showstopping tree in the Red Room.
The National Trust will also be running a host of events and shopping opportunities at the house in the run up to the big day.
Closer to Christmas, visitors can look forward to choirs singing in the courtyard (December 3 and 21), a Christmas makers market, and late-evening openings.
On Saturday 3 and Sunday, December 4 people can hunt for Christmas presents or a treat for themselves at the Christmas makers market.
Stalls will be packed with artisan gifts including jewellery, homewares, textiles and art.
This event is being held in partnership with Petworth Pop Up: Makers Market, and is on the evening of special late shopping in Petworth town.
Petworth’s ‘Tree-mendous Christmas’ is open until Monday, January 2 10:30am-4:30pm.
