A Brighton gay bar will host a special event to raise money for victims of an attack at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado.
Five people died and 25 were injured after a shooter opened fire at the Club Q gay nightclub in Colorado Springs, before being subdued by heroic customers.
The suspect, Anderson Lee Aldrich, appeared in court and was ordered to be held without bail.
Club Revenge in Old Steine and R-Bar in Marine Parade will donate £1 per person who visits their venues tomorrow, with money being donated directly to a victims’ fund.
A spokesman for the venue said: “We’re shocked and numbed by the devastating attack on Club Q in Colorado and our hearts go out to all the victims and their loved ones that have been affected by this senseless hate crime.
“We go to our queer clubs and bars to dance, love each other, make each other laugh, create memories, live authentically and feel safe around people with the same values as us.
“When events like these transpire, we’re reminded how fragile that safety can be.”
The venue will also be encouraging donations in collection buckets, with QR codes to allow people to donate online.
