A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a motorcycle crash involving women and children.
Two women were taken to hospital with serious injuries following last night's incident in High Street, Barcombe, which happened shortly after a bonfire and fireworks display.
A 67-year-old woman, from Ditchling, and a 30-year-old woman, from East Grinstead, are being treated for serious injuries.
Three other people, including two children, were treated for injuries at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.
Sussex Police say that the boy, who was riding the motorcycle, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has since been released on bail.
The road was closed for some time but has since been re-opened with police apologising for the disruption.
Police are continuing their enquiries and have urged anyone with information or footage to report the information online or by calling 101, quoting Operation Meadow.
