Shoppers in The Lanes have embraced the festive spirit after Christmas trees and lights were lit up.
Decorations along Hanningtons Lane in Brighton dazzled crowds at a special event, which also included music by Sherika Sherard, mulled wine and mince pies, and drag queen storytelling.
People cheered as Skip, the mascot mouse of the Theatre Royal, turned on the Christmas lights at the event earlier this week.
Abigail Keefe, owner of the accessories and handbags store Abi-K, said: “Our Christmas lights are on and we’re ready for Christmas shoppers.
“Hanningtons Lane has an abundance of independent shops and businesses perfect for seeking out unique gifts.
“We know things are tight for many, but shopping local in The Lanes will mean you’ll have a boutique experience, while supporting local independent businesses.
“We’re brimming with Christmas cheer, have fabulous festive windows to admire and can’t wait to see you.”
Christmas lights across the rest of the city centre will be switched on in an event this evening, with choirs and a brass band ringing in the holiday season.
