A Brighton drag queen has missed out on a place in the final of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.
In this week’s challenge, the five remaining contestants on the BBC show had their comedy skills put to the test in a comedy roast, where they were tasked with writing and performing their own material.
However, Pixie Polite, 29, from Brighton, faced a tough week and received lukewarm praise for both the stand-up performance.
RuPaul expressed disappointment with Pixie and said: “I thought this is going to be an opportunity for you to really let loose.
“You are naturally funny and I didn’t get any of that. I felt like you were not being you, your own natural funniness.”
Pixie placed in the bottom two for the second week in a row and was defeated by Black Peppa in a lip-sync to Queen’s Another One Bites The Dust.
Upon leaving the competition, Pixie said: “I am so happy to have made it this far in the competition. I couldn’t have asked for more before I came here.
“I’m gutted to not have made it right to the ended and that very last moment, but they were all fabulous.
“There’s been a lot of positives I can take away from this experience and I think in the future I am going to be a very different Pixie, and I’m happy about that.”
Pixie also said that she was proud of her looks on the runway during the season, which were either about body confidence or a personal tribute to family.
“I wanted to show that plus-size people can deliver fashion and fun on the runway and I think I achieved this,” she said.
Pixie has the best record of any drag queen from Brighton to appear on the show, with two previous contestants from the city both struggling.
Joe Black, the first drag queen from Brighton to appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, was originally eliminated in the first week of series two.
After another contestant contracted Covid, Joe returned to the competition - only to be eliminated the same week, placing eighth.
Anubis, who took part in the last series of the show, came last after being eliminated in the first week.
After surviving the first week of the competition, Pixie Polite proclaimed that she had overcome the show's "Brighton curse".
The finale of this series of the show, featuring Black Peppa, Cheddar Gorgeous, Danny Beard and Jonbers Blonde, will air next Thursday at 9pm on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.
