Recently in the nhs they have been facing a lot of problems one of them being the lack of money resulting in underfunding and the main one being employment or the lack of it .

After interviewing haematology staff nurse lydia friend i've become more aware of the struggles they conquer after being told " everyday we are expected to push ourselves to the limit , often missing our breaks to get through unrealsitic patient lists" . They also been fighting exhaustion , "i am , alongside my colleagues getting burnt out due to the lack of staff as a result of the failure to recruit of nurses " . This is just one persons account and there is an increasing amounts of stories just like this due to the empty promises of the government . Throught their struggles their hasnt been a promise of stability , employment , or money , this has caused national outrage and rightly so  because of the disregard for nurses during and post covid this has built up and caused a long awaited strike .

The lack of nurses is creating an unsafe space for patients to be in , the lack of nurses is damaging paitent saftey as the nursing capacity is unable to cope with the growing demand of patients. Nurses are skilled professionals that have been trained with 3 years of degree level knowledge, they pay they currently get does not reflect the amount of responsability put on them . The good nature of nurses has been taken advantage of and nurses are now leaving the profession as they are unable to provide for themselves in the cost of living crisis .

If the NHS dosent strike for change their profession will continue to be a crisis and there will be no choice but to be privatized . This means that when it comes to needing care , we will not be able to afford it and after caring for people their entire careers they will not be cared for themselves . In  order to save the NHS we need to make nursing more appealing and to support the nurses we already are lucky enough to have .
