Police were called to an incident after reports of a man found at the bottom of a cliff.
An eyewitness said police were at the top and bottom of a cliff face near Asda at Brighton Marina.
The top of the cliff appeared to have been taped off, according to the onlooker.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "Emergency services were called to reports of a man found at the bottom of cliffs near Brighton Marina shortly after 10.15am on Wednesday, November 16."
Police enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the situation.
