Eastbourne is the sunniest place in the UK, according to a recent study.
Using data from the Met Office, researchers from O’Flynn Medical found that the Sussex town receives the most sunlight in the country, receiving an average of 183.07 hours of sunshine a month.
Meanwhile, Stornoway in Scotland receives the least amount of sun hours each year, with an average of just 92.9 hours of sunshine per month.
Conor O’Flynn, CEO of O’Flynn Medical, warned that many people do not receive enough Vitamin D during the winter.
He said: “Information from the NHS shows that between October to early March the vast majority of us don’t receive enough Vitamin D from sunlight across the UK.
“From these new figures, we can see if that you’re living in the north of the country, you’ll struggle to naturally harness Vitamin D.
“There’s just not enough sunlight to get the adequate amounts of the vitamin that the body needs during the winter, so we all need to try and up our intake through our diet and supplements.”
Foods that contain good amounts of Vitamin D include red meat, egg yolks, salmon, mackerel and some breakfast cereals.
