The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning across Sussex overnight and into the morning of Monday, November 7.
The River Cuckmere flooded in Alfriston yesteday and these images show the extent of the damage nearby.
Cars were seen driving through deep standing water.
The Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the day and have said that while the river level will begin to slowly fall, it will remain higher than normal "until at least midweek".
The authority said: "Scattered heavy showers are forecast Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We will continue to monitor the levels and forecast and will share further information if the risk of flooding increases again."
A spokesman for the Environment Agency added: "Flood water can be deep and dangerous, please take care if walking near the river in Alfriston. Please plan to avoid driving on routes vulnerable to flooding, including North Street, Alfriston."
