Diversity clubs are unknown in the UK and not many people know what it is so this article is here to educate the masses . To start of simply Diversity club is a safehaven for lgbtqia kids there a way of socialisation and making new friends and allies .
These kind of social clubs are a need in todays society with a large 45% of lgbtqia youth have suffered from suicidal thoughts and diversity club helps push those thoughts away and "an opportunity to truly be themselves " says leader of stcatherines college diversity club Ms Clarke .
Later on in the interview she also says we need more of these clubs as some people might not get the home support they need . In addition to this , Ms Clarke also says we need to increase the amount of pshee teachings about the lgbtqia community .
Her and others feel the lack of education as 23% of UK youth belive there's is a lack of understanding and teachings is pshee and other subjects. Not to mention , 53% of lgbtqia students feel as if they do not have a role model in home or school life and diversity club gives you those role models and aspirations to be .
So in conclusion to this article more protection , more role models and more clubs in schools need to be put in place so kids can be themselfs and feel safe and comfortable in a happy environment for the future.
