Train strikes which were set to affect services across Brighton have now been suspended.

The strikes, which were set to take place over the weekend and into next week, will now not happen according to rail union RMT.

The union say that they will enter “a period of intensive negotiations” in order to settle a pay dispute with Network Rail and other rail companies.

Strikes were expected to disrupt services from Saturday, November 5 through to Wednesday, November 9.

A spokesman for Govia Thameslink said that due to short notice some smaller routes, including to Lewes for the bonfire, would still not be running.
