Two boys have been arrested after a fight which left a girl in hospital.
The incident happened around 8pm last night in North Road, just outside Lancing railway station.
Two boys, aged 15 and 14, have been arrested on suspicion of common assault following the “confrontation”.
A 14-year-old girl was taken to hospital with minor injuries, while a boy, also 14, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Both are receiving support from officers.
Armed police could be seen near the railway station.
There were several police officers seen talking to people in the area and outside The Railway pub.
One witness told The Argus that they saw a large group of youths in the area and heard a commotion in Co-op in North Road just after 5.30pm.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “It is believed to have happened outside Lancing railway station, the Asda store, and The Railway public house.
“A cordon was set up in the area and officers conducted house-to-house enquiries to begin the investigation.
"The incident is not believed to pose a threat to the wider community.
“A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of common assault and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause fear of violence.
“A 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of common assault. Both remain in custody at this stage.
“Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident are asked to come forward and report it to Sussex Police online, quoting serial 1295 of 02/11.”
