A musician who set up a collection of porcelain cats on his garden wall has installed security cameras after claiming more were stolen.
Danny McEvoy and his friend Ruth Farber-Nathan scour car boot sales and charity shops searching for the ornaments before sticking them up in Ship Street, Newhaven.
The night before The Argus revealed Danny’s “famous cat wall of Newhaven” – another four were said to have been stolen.
Danny thinks it may have been trick-or-treaters out for Halloween and has now resorted to setting up a security camera.
He said: “Four were stolen the night of Halloween. The one climbing up the wall is gone.
“It’s just daft, it cost me like 50p, it’s nothing. It makes me think it’s kids, the Newhaven youth posse.
“I have set up CCTV now on the side of the house looking over my 70 cats.
“If anymore get nicked I might try and get some plastic Perspex sheets so they’re behind that.
“It’s only just happened now, the collection has been developing over a few months. I just hope more aren’t stolen.”
Since the thefts, Danny said he will look to put up less valuable-looking moggies.
He has also been receiving donations from people in the area looking to add to his cat collection.
