A lorry has hit a railway bridge causing trains to be delayed throughout the evening.
The lorry is thought to have scraped the roof of the railway bridge in between Falmer and Moulsecoomb causing engineers to worry about damage to the bridge.
Services have been travelling at a reduced speed across the bridge.
In a tweet, Southern Rail have advised that trains between Brighton and Lewes will take longer than normal to reach their destination.
Customers have been advised to leave extra time for journeys on the line, with delayed trains expected.

⏰ This is causing delays to services between Brighton & Lewes in both directions. You can travel as normal, but please allow some extra time.
Southern Rail have since confirmed that the bridge has been inspected and trains are now running normally.
