There are no services from Worthing to Hove after a flying trampoline got stuck under a train.
The trampoline was first reported on the track just before 5.45am this morning.
It comes as wind gusts of up to 68mph hit Sussex due to Storm Claudio.
The Met Office put out a yellow weather warning from midnight until 8am today for the south coast.
A Southern Rail spokesman said: "Trains cannot run from Worthing towards Hove.
"The line is open in the other direction, but only a limited train service will run.
"If you are traveling on this route, it may take you up to 45 minutes longer than usual to reach your destination."
Southern Rail said the trampoline was welded to the conductor rail.
It said specialist engineers would inspect the track now the trampoline was removed.
An update just after 9.05am confirmed the track repairs were completed and services would return to normal.
