Two men assaulted police officers after being apprehended following reports of counterfeit notes being used at a bar.
Officers were called to Zahara in East Street, Brighton, after receiving reports of fake £20 being used.
A man became aggressive on being apprehended by police and resisted arrest. A second man attempted to intervene by assaulting an officer and was also arrested.
There was a big police presence at the scene of the incident, which happened around 2am this morning.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said a number of notes used at the bar were identified as being counterfeit and have been seized for further investigation.
A 21-year-old man from south Croydon was arrested on suspicion of using counterfeit currency, assaulting an emergency worker, obstructing or resisting arrest and possession of Class A drugs.
A 25-year-old man from Epsom was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
Both men remain in police custody
