A football finance podcast and Albion magazine have been nominated for national awards.
The Price of Football podcast, hosted by football finance expert and Albion fan Kieran Maguire and Palace fan and comedian Kevin Day, is up for best podcast of the year for the Football Supporters’ Association.
While Albion fanzine Dogma is up for best fanzine of the year.
The awards ceremony has dozens of different categories, including pundit of the year, men’s player of the year and writer of the year.
Kieran Maguire said: “Just to be alongside some of the podcasts is humbling really. We started the podcast following the demise of Bury Football Club three years ago.
"Myself and Kevin Day thought it would just be a protest show, now we’re almost 300 episodes in.
“We have a low budget, effectively no budget. I remember when we got excited at getting 25,000 listens, now we have had more than six million downloads of what is a pretty niche show. It’s an old bloke talking about spreadsheets.
“We have become a show for all clubs. I think that is why we have found an audience.
“We have spoken with supporters groups, referees, politicians such as Andy Burnham, club owners.
“Our aim is that we treat every club and fan with the same respect, it doesn’t matter if you’re Manchester United or Morecambe, Barcelona or Barrow.”
Ten of the categories are open to a public vote, although the categories Price of Football and Dogma are up for will be decided by a panel.
The awards will be held in London on November 14.
Dogma, a fanzine set up by Albion supporters, featured in The Argus earlier this month.
James William, editor, said: “For us to even be considered is pretty massive. In terms of Brighton fan groups, I don’t think anyone has ever been nominated.
“We’re incredibly proud and honoured to be nominated. In a time where football fans are getting attacked on all sides in terms of ticket prices, cancelled trains, rearranged fixtures, it is ever more important that the voice of fans is documented and appreciated.
“The FSA definitely do that, it means so much to us.
“We’re big fanzine nerds at Dogma, we really enjoy publications from around the world. There is a great bunch of fanzines that we’re delighted to be alongside and we can’t wait for the ceremony.”
