Brighton’s spookiest Halloween house is ready to terrify trick-or-treaters on Monday.
The notorious property in Highcroft Villas has been spooking school children for over a decade and this year is no exception.
Highcroft Haunt is based upon the hit TV series Stranger Things with a sign saying Welcome to Hawkins.
It features an array of spooky scenes from the show.
Skeletons hang from the fences, looming over anyone who dares to pass by.
At night, the building is cast in a revolting red light, illuminating the terrifying demon Vecna who guards the front of the house.
“It started small 13 years ago because we live between two primary schools and noticed the children saying it was a spooky house,” said Ollie Slim, a self-confessed Halloween fanatic.
“It has grown year on year and we have had different themes over the years.”
Ollie Slim and his husband Ollie Blackaby have held a fundraiser for Macmillan as part of their Halloween display for ten years.
Last year, they raised funds for their close friend Steven Reid who needed urgent cancer treatment not currently funded by the NHS.
Steven died of cancer earlier this year, and Ollie said the money raised for his treatment was passed on to Macmillan.
Their fundraising target this year is £3,000, and Ollie is hopeful they will reach it despite cost of living pressures.
“We were not expecting to raise much money this year because of the situation but we are already at over 80% of our target,” said Ollie.
“On the night we usually raise about £1,500 so we hope we’ll reach a total of about £5,000.”
The couple set up the equipment a couple of weeks before Halloween so school children can see it on their way to and from school.
The house is set to be even more spectacular than the photos as Ollie and his husband do not put all of the robotic equipment out until the big day.
The house and garden will be open to the public on Monday, October 31 and is set to be a terrifying experience with jump scares and frights at every turn.
