A specialist school hosted the first-ever Independent School Association (ISA) special educational needs football tournament.
LVS Hassocks, held the tournament for independent and state schools within their 36-acre grounds in Sayers Common.
Schools that attended included Wemms Education Centre, Slindon College, Muntham House and Oakgrove College.
The morning kicked off with Albion in the Community delivering a ‘masterclass’ for the players, which included some practical skills teaching and fun warm up activities.
Jen Weeks, principal of LVS Hassocks, said: “I am so proud that our local community of specialist schools have come together to celebrate what will hopefully be a yearly event. We were delighted to host such an inclusive and fun event.
Ms Weeks said the football tournament was a “great success” with each student receiving a medal to highlight their participation and involvement in the day.
Helen Stanton-Tonner, director of education and inclusion for ISA, said: “It’s amazing to be part of such an inclusive and forward-thinking event that incorporates the local independent and state schools in the area. Thank you to Jen and the team for inviting us along.”
