One of the UK’s most haunted buildings is inviting guests to meet some of its ghostly residents this Halloween.
Michelham Priory, an 800-year-old moated island, will open its doors for its October half term event where visitors can hope to encounter some of the spirits previously spotted there.
The island, which has featured on TV show Most Haunted, is said to be home to a number of ghosts such as former owner Thomas Sackville and Rosie, a young girl who appears behind wood panelling in the property.
Other ghosts who roam the grounds include the “Grey Lady”, who has been spotted on several occasions around the priory, including at the bridge and the medieval gatehouse.
Halloween events run by the priory, in Upper Dicker near Hailsham, include the ghostly trail, a self-led tour of the grounds which takes visitors to some of the site's most haunted spots.
Other activities during the half-term holidays include "Harvest, Herbs and Halloween", which involves visitors handling real archaeological finds linked to the site.
Events will run through the holiday with special activities on Wednesday, October 26, and Saturday, October 29. Visitors under 18 go free with a paying adult.
