A Metropolitan Police officer has appeared in court after a woman was killed when she was hit by a patrol car.
Shante Daniel-Folkes, 25, from south-east London, was struck by the vehicle in Stockwell Road in Brixton as police were answering an emergency call.
PC Gary Thomson, 30, from Haywards Heath, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving following the collision on June 9 after appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
His colleague, PC Nadeem Patel, 27, from Barking, was driving the car at the time and did not make a plea to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
Both officers, who are on restricted duties, were bailed and told to appear at the Old Bailey for a preliminary hearing on November 14.
The officers were driving in separate vehicles at the time of the incident.
The charges followed an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the court heard.
