THE location of the first Sussex branch of an American fast food chain has been revealed.
Popeyes will open a restaurant in Brighton later this year, at the former site of a Thomson travel agent in North Street.
Signage outside the outlet promises “hand-battered and breaded” chicken with a “shatter crunch” and offers customers the chance to win a free chicken sandwich and an invitation to the grand opening.
The competition closes to entries on November 24.
Popeyes hope to create more than 600 jobs across six cities, with outlets also opening in Nottingham, Gateshead, Oxford, Reading and Ealing.
Tom Crowley, chief executive officer at Popeyes UK, said: “Accelerating our UK growth strategy in this way enables us to provide a much-needed jobs boost to the hospitality economy across both construction and hospitality roles.
“Across these six sites, we’re expecting to provide 600 employment opportunities and we’re already eyeing our next raft of locations with announcements due imminently.”
Founded in New Orleans in 1972, Popeyes opened its first restaurant in the UK last year in Stratford, which it claims is its highest-performing restaurant globally.
The chain now currently has ten outlets across the country.
