A CHARITY shop has been forced to close after being flooded during heavy rain.

The British Heart Foundation shop in London Road, Brighton, has a tarpaulin over the front with signs saying “closed due to flooding”.

The charity confirmed it has been temporarily closed since Friday, September 23.

One shopper who saw it said they were worried the branch was “closed for good”.

He said: “I was walking by the shop on London Road and noticed it was closed.

“At first I was worried it was closed for good but then saw the sign. Hopefully they’re able to open again because I love that shop.”

Angie Vidler, regional manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: “Our London Road shop was hit by severe flooding after heavy rainfall on Friday, September 23, causing damage to the store.

“In order to protect our staff and the public, we have temporarily closed the London Road shop but aim to re-open as soon as repairs are complete.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as possible. Our furniture and electrical store in London Road remains open, and customers are welcome to visit or donate any quality unwanted items to our other Brighton shops in Western Road, Hove, and Portslade.”

BHF did not confirm when it would be reopening the shop.
