RAIL union boss Mick Lynch was unable to attend a speech in the city due to train delays.
He was one of several union members and MPs due to speak at the Enough is Enough campaign at Brighton Dome in Church Street.
It was announced on stage that Mr Lynch was not able to attend due to delays on the train he was aboard.
CWU general secretary Dave Ward also did not attend as advertised.
Our reporter Ellie Smitherman attended the rally and what happened.
She said: “It was getting quite late in the event and there was no sign of Mick Lynch and then we were told he was stuck on a train of all places.
“A bit later on they told us he wasn’t going to make it but he’ll be in town in a few weeks for another rally.”
Kemptown MP Lloyd Russell Moyle also spoke, along with UCU general secretary Jo Grady, UCU president Janet Farrar and Acorn South East director Sophia Rose.
The campaign is making five demands of the government which includes a proper pay rise, cutting energy bills and taxing the rich.
