THERE are heavy delays on the A27 following a crash involving a VW campervan and BMW.
Traffic is moving slowly along the road following the incident near Lewes on the A27 eastbound at A277 Brighton Road near the Ashcombe Roundabout.
Congestion is causing delays of up to half an hour for motorists, with long queues of traffic stretching into Lewes town centre.
One witness said: "The BMW had damage to its front and rear, and the campervan was on its side.
"The police were doing a fantastic job and had closed the road.
"The ambulance was also on the scene and it seemed very controlled and calm.
"Everyone was diverted back towards Brighton which caused long queues right back down the A27."
Sussex Police have been contacted for comment.
