HUNDREDS of people will march through the city in support of striking postal and railway workers as part of a “day of action”.

Protesters will march  from Brighton station at 11am as part of the Enough is Enough campaign, which calls for energy bills to be cut, an end to food poverty, a real-terms pay increase and tax increases for the rich.

This will be followed by a rally at The Level.

The campaign has attracted support from over 700,000 people, with 50 protests set to take place tomorrow across the country.

A Brighton branch official with the Communication Workers’ Union (CWU) said: “I have members on the brink of homelessness using food banks and we are all struggling with the cost of living crisis.

“We won’t accept our pay and conditions being driven down while bosses award themselves huge payouts.”

Activists from the community union Acorn will also be joining the demonstration in Brighton tomorrow.

A spokeswoman for the union said: “People in this city were already struggling with some of the worst housing in the country, and with rising food and energy prices we are at breaking point.

“We want to send a message not only to our government but also to the Greens in our local council that working-class people in this city are getting organised and we’re not going to take it anymore.”
