Leaders Letting and Estate Agents
Leaders Letting and Estate Agents are living up to their name when it comes to the company’s commitment to sustainability and to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Leaders by name, the company is now leading by deed, too, opening their very first sustainable branch, in Brighton.
And the Kemptown location carries extra significance as the new sustainable branch is on the very site on which Leaders Letting and Estate Agents opened their first Brighton branch 40 years ago.
Located on St George’s Road, Kemptown, the new branch has been fitted out with sustainability at the heart of the development and were delighted that Brighton & Hove’s Mayor, Lizzie Deane, was able to officially open the newly refurbished branch.
“As part of our goal to be a carbon neutral company by 2030, this branch will be the blueprint for the rest of our branches going forwards,” said David Wilson, chief operating officer at LRG.
Sustainable attributes include
- 100% powered by renewable energy
- Doors, skirtings, partitions, and countertops sourced from locally produced FSC-certified wood
- All furniture is made from recycled or upcycled materials and will be recycled or upcycled at the end of its lifecycle
- Chairs are made from 100% recycled fabric in a closed-loop content production process, with 25% of the raw material derived from the brand’s own recycled waste streams
- Timed lighting, air con and heating fitted so that electricity is not wasted
- Solar film lines the high-street facing windows to reflect heat out and lower the need for electricity
- Low-flow kitchen taps saving 30-50% on water consumption
- Carpet made from 65% post-industrial recycled content, and the supplier will repurpose and recycle when it reaches end of life.
Mr Wilson added: “The property industry has a key part to play in halting the devastating effects of climate change. We already know that more tenants and homeowners are prioritising green home improvements to limit personal carbon emissions and it’s essential that this trend is replicated at an industry level.
“We are proud to lead on greener property management and develop a sustainable approach to business and real estate. It is time for the property sector to embrace the next big challenge and step up to help turn the industry green.”
Aside from the sustainable branches and renewable energy, LRG’s green roadmap also includes planting 16,000 trees by 2023 in partnership with GreenTheUK and a zero-landfill strategy.
