The 19-room property in Albert Road, Bognor, was purchased for £1.051million and consists of two conjoined four-floor buildings.
Richard Paine, senior auction appraiser and auctioneer at Clive Emson Auctioneers, said: “That this lot was sold for more than £1 million demonstrates that high level investors are out there when the right properties become available.
"We considered that this provided an excellent investment opportunity. Our bidders certainly agreed - and it may well be an apposite time to bring similar properties to market."
The shared house includes a number of seperately let rooms with included kitchen facilties as well as shared toilets and showers as well as a laundry room.
The property also includes two ground floor studio lets. All of the lets include either a balcony or patio to the rear.
Other properties also included in the auction included a 4.5 acre patch of of farmland in Haywards Heath and a part-refurbished ground floor flat in Brighton.
Land to the west of Stanbridge Farm in Stanbridge Lane, Staplefield – brought to market for the first time in 58 years – went under the gavel at £80,000.
