The husband of a mother-of-two who went missing more than three months ago was arrested today on suspicion of her murder.
Elaine Taggart, 48, from Ferring, near Worthing, was last seen on January 3 when she gave a colleague a lift home from work.
Her red Fiat Punto, registration N988 YJB, was found a short distance from Goring railway station and a five-minute drive from her home on January 4.
A spokesman for Sussex Police said: "A 43-year-old local man was arrested today on suspicion of the murder of Elaine Taggart.
"He has been taken to Chichester Custody Centre for questioning."
The arrested man is Mrs Taggart's husband, Andy.
A police spokesman said: "Since Mrs Taggart went missing there has been no trace of her.
"As time goes on the investigation has become more like a murder inquiry than a missing persons inquiry."
Anyone with information about her disappearance is asked to call Sussex Police on 0845 6070999, quoting Operation Gordon. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
