Can someone explain to me why Brighton and Hove City Council went to great expense to put raised kerbs at bus stops to make access easier for people to get on and off buses? Too often buses cannot get to the kerbs because taxis are parked there.

This means people have to get on and off in the middle of the road. One of the worst places for this problem is Western Road, Brighton, outside Waitrose and Marks & Spencer, and outside Somerfield in London Road.

All these stores have rear access which could be used for taxi pick-up points. Failing that there should be taxi pick-up bays near but not at these bus stops.
