A few weeks ago during the Labour Party spring conference, Gordon Brown promised us the "Britain of our dreams" within a couple of years.
At the same time Dick Knight promised us the new stadium at Falmer in the same period.
While we all wish them both the best of luck, they would be wiser to be wary.
Philanthropists and fairy godmothers are in short supply.
