This couple celebrated their diamond anniversary in style with a champagne reception at The Grand in Brighton.
Frank and Bessie Markwick even received a congratulatory card from the Queen to mark their 60th year of marriage.
The couple, originally from Brighton, spent most of their married life in Woodingdean before moving to Peacehaven 20 years ago.
They met in the Prince's Ballroom, which was part of what is now the Sea Life Centre, and were married on March 27, 1948, at St Peter the Elder Church in Brighton.
They have two sons, Michael, 59, and Richard, 53.
Bessie, 79, told The Argus her secret for a successful marriage. She said: "It think it's having a blind eye and a deaf ear - and the ability to laugh at yourself."
They spent the day with family and friends before spending the night at The Grand.
Frank, 85, said: "We haven't come down to Earth yet.
"It was a marvellous day - unexpected and a once-in-a-lifetime treat."
