I'm appalled by the recent massive increase in resident parking costs (zone O) and can't understand how it can be considered a fair burden on residents. On top of the recent above inflation increase in council tax it seems another way of squeezing more money out of us.
A more than 25 per cent increase in the 12-month resident's parking permit and a 100 per cent increase in the resident's visitor's permit is a rip-off.
Additionally the terms of the visitor's permits have been unjustly changed to "use quickly or lose"
which benefits only the council.
It's suggested that the introduction of controlled parking is for the benefit of residents but I find it hard to believe.
