Nashville foursome Be Your Own Pet may be dirty punks but they're not immune to the charms of the pier.
"Have you been on that s***?" Jemina Pearl - one of the coolest frontwomen in music at the moment -asked the crowd admiringly, if unnecessarily.
Then, without further ado, they launched unceremoniously into another short, frantic, joyous cacophony of noise, Pearl jerking about the stage like Riot Grrrl Barbie, a blur of peroxide blonde hair and snarls.
With an average age of about 20 (most of the audience looked like extras from Skins) and the thumbs-up from Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, BYOP have got energy and style.
They caned through everything from Damn, Damn Leash, to Ramones-tinged teenage revenge fantasy Becky, from latest album Get Awkward, with a youthful disregard for pace and subtlety.
It wasn't clever but it was loud.
Awesome, as Pearl would say.
