An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was knocked down at a pedestrian crossing.
The incident happened at 4.45pm on Monday at Balcombe Road in Pound Hill, Crawley.
The boy, from Crawley, received serious head injuries and was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a white Toyota pick-up hit the boy.
The 42-year-old Crawley man driving the Toyota was uninjured.
