A primary school has introduced a scheme to encourage pupils and their parents to eat more vegetables.

Balfour Junior School in Brighton launched the scheme with Brightonbased food company We Love Local.

For every bag of fresh vegetables sold at the school, one pound will go towards organising activities and events based around growing and eating healthy food.

Parent and organiser Teresa Perez said she was looking forward to the first delivery of bags.

We Love Local managing partner Melissa Love said: "We work really closely with the farmers and producers we buy from, paying them fair prices over and above what they could expect from a supermarket.

"Of course there are national companies doing this now and even Tesco offers organic boxes but we supply truly local food to all of our customers."
